S aint Charles is the largest private school in the Essonne département, France, with 2800 students coming in every day. As part of its plans to secure the site, Saint Charles wanted and retractable bollards by Automatic Systems. • The software and electronic access control interface by ITSI Systems. • Access control readers by STid:

to increase intruder protection and streamline access with a solution that adapts to different student timetables and parental permission for students to leave the site. Other key objectives: Saint Charles was looking for a solution to help it fulfil its responsibilities for the students in their care and reassure parents. In practical terms, it needed a solution capable of handling the mass arrival of students between 7:45 and 8 am, students leaving early, students leaving at the end of the day, or if a teacher is absent. Safe modernisation This is the context for the entry and exit control system at Saint Charles implemented by APLIM, Automatic Systems, ITSI Systems, and Scola Concept, which they synchronised with student timetables and parental permissions. Students have a unique badge for accessing school and canteen areas. If a student attempts to leave the premises without permission, the security gate remains closed, and an automatic notification is sent. If a teacher is absent or if a student has finished for the day and has parental permission, the system will let them leave. For parents’ meetings, the school sends them a temporary access code by email that they enter into the reader at the entrance. Several solutions have been implemented: • The range of security turnstiles, automatic arm barriers

o ARCS One Blue: Fourteen narrow readers installed on the turnstiles. o ARCS-C Blue: Seven-inch touchscreen/keypad ARC readers for resident and occasional visitor access (meetings). o ARCS-G/BT: Eighteen table readers for access to canteen areas. o SPECTRE: Two readers for car park access for site residents. • Two intercoms from Aiphone to secure visitor arrivals. “We provided over forty readers to equip the entire site. We are proud to combine our expertise with APLIM, Automatic Systems, ITSI Systems and Scola Concept to provide a comprehensive technological solution,” said Alexandre Bargès, Sales Representative at STid. A resounding success On the ground, the result has received the approval of students, parents, teaching staff and residents, and the added security also provides streamlined access. “Streamlined access is key. One person can use the turnstiles every 2 – 3 seconds. This number of people needs trusted solutions and partners to ensure optimal management of all secured areas,” said Cédric Namblard, CEO of Scola Concept.
